Special Olympics Northern California Regional Track & Field and Volleyball Competitions.
On Saturday, April 30th, hundreds of Special Olympic Athletes from Northern California gathered at Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton to compete for Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals. REACH 4 RADD Track & Field Team scored big earning 17 Golds, 3 Silvers and 1 Bronze! In Volleyball, Team RADD-A got Gold while RADD-B was in 4th place.
In addition to providing homes for adults with developmental disabilities, REACH has been a long time supporter of our community’s adults with developmental disabilities in their social and athletic activities. For years, REACH has provided scholarships so that anyone who wants to participate, but can’t afford the fee, is never turned away. As with any sporting activity, over time uniforms get worn and equipment breaks. Time and time again, REACH happily subsidizes new uniforms, athletic equipment and any other gear needed to make the sports fun and safe for the athletes. After getting their new uniforms this past year, one RADD athlete said, “This is great! We look like a real team!”
…and they performed like one too!
