Congrats to Our T-RADD Athletes!
On May 18, 2024, T-RADD track and field athletes showcased their dedication and sportsmanship after weeks of training leading up to the Spring Competition. More than 600 athletes from Northern California gathered in Pleasanton Hill for a full day of competition.
The T-RADD athletes participated in track and field events, including the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, and 1500m runs, 50m and 100m walks, turbo javelin, and softball throwing. Each athlete participated in three events, with the goal of achieving their personal best and potentially earning a medal.
This year, 22 T-RADD athletes earned gold medals, making them eligible to be selected to participate in the 2024 Northern California Summer Games. T-RADDS’s top five athletes were selected to represent our area at the Summer games in Santa Clara, scheduled on June 28-30.
Following the Spring Competition on May 21, REACH hosted a celebratory pizza party for all athletes, families, and support staff. Coaches expressed pride in the athletes’ achievements, highlighting personal bests, and thanking them for their commitment to weekly practices. Several athletes shared their appreciation for their coaches, expressed excitement about the event, and eagerly awaited the announcement of those selected for the Summer Games.
The hard work of the T-RADD athletes and their coaches are a true testament to the spirit of the Special Olympics program. The organization and planning involved in preparing for these competitions are substantial, but the outcomes, as seen by the results of numerous medal wins, are remarkable. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the eight T-RADD coaches whose tireless efforts supported the athletes throughout the season. As they prepare for the 2024 Summer Games, the entire T-RADD community celebrates their achievements and look forward to cheering on their athletes in Santa Clara.
