Tri-Valley REACH is proud to announce the success of its REACH for Your Dreams – Evening at the Oasis event on September 12, 2024 at McGrail Vineyards. With tremendous community support, this evening celebrated the shared goal of making the dream of independence for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) come true by raising essential funds for REACH’s mission. Heartfelt generosity resonated throughout the room, and REACH is looking forward to continuing that moment into 2025.

Attendees witnessed the impact of their contributions firsthand through inspiring stories told by residents Danielle and Jon, who shared how REACH has changed their lives. Their stories highlighted how independence begins with housing and spaces that are extremely affordable, safe, and inclusive for all. After more than 30 years, Tri-Valley REACH continues to be the only nonprofit in the Tri-Valley providing affordable and inclusive independent housing to adults with I/DD.

“We are truly fortunate to have such dedicated supporters who share our belief that independence begins with housing,” said Sharon Almeida, Tri-Valley REACH Vice-Chair. “Many of our residents are under employed and with rents that start at $350/month, we can make the dream of independent living a reality. The generosity and caring expressed this evening will carry us forward into another year of fulfilling our mission.”

During the event, special remarks were given by Fran Earl (Reisner), City of Livermore’s Housing and Human Services Manager, whose decade-long partnership with Tri-Valley REACH has resulted in the acquisition of three homes through the City of Livermore inclusionary housing program. “Tri-Valley REACH’s mission of inclusion is such a wonderful philosophical match with the City of Livermore,” Earl said. “The city looks forward to creating many opportunities for future homes.”

Pleasanton Mayor Karla Brown also spoke, expressing her pride in the city’s ongoing partnership and collaboration with Tri-Valley REACH with the addition of a new ADU. “This is just the beginning,” Mayor Brown shared. “We’re going to continue working with Tri-Valley REACH and Alameda County for innovative solutions to provide more housing for residents with I/DD. Everyone deserves a home that they can call their own. REACH is making homes for people who need and deserve them within wonderful communities like Pleasanton and Livermore.  I’m proud that REACH was selected for my first Mayor’s Award in 2021.”

Other notable guest speakers included Nate Miley, Alameda County Supervisor District 4, and Melissa Hernandez, representing Dave Haubert, Alameda County Supervisor District 1.

At the heart of this annual fundraising event were the forty-four residents across the thirteen Tri-Valley REACH homes, along with the hundreds of T-RADD athletes and RADD participants that REACH supports annually. “The funds raised at this year’s event surpassed expectations, greatly exceeding last year’s total and marking a significant milestone for our grassroots efforts— We could not have done it without the support of our Tri-Valley community and all of our returning donors and sponsors, and we extend a huge thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone involved,” said Almeida.
